2023 Cellarius Cabernet Sauvignon
ABOUT CELLARIUS
Cellarius is crafted by Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, the acclaimed winery that bested top French wines in a 1976 blind tasting known as the Judgment of Paris. The estate has made world-class wines since the 1970s and is recognized for consistent quality and ageability. The name “Cellarius” is inspired by the Latin word for “cellarer,” a nod to the winemaking and vineyard team that diligently cultivates the vineyards and guides the wines as they age to perfection.
VINTAGE
The 2023 vintage is one of the best in recent memory for Napa Valley as the area experienced the coolest temperatures in ten-plus years resulting in flavorful and expressive wines. Winter brought ample rainfall that filled reservoirs and enriched soils with lasting saturation. Ideal cool conditions led up to a later-than-usual bud break in mid-April. Summer had cool sea breezes all season long that resulted in a slow and even ripening period. No significant heat waves occurred in late August or early September. Grapes clusters developed beautifully, and yields were higher than average across all estate vineyards. September progressed without extreme weather, so Cabernet continued a slow, steady, and even ripening period, producing remarkable wines. Cabernets are dark in color with varietally expressive aromatics, full of complexity and character. These wines have vibrant acidity, rich, flavorful structures, and lengthy tannins.
TASTING NOTES
Cellarius Cabernet Sauvignon offers signature dark fruit character of Napa Valley combined with elegance from Cabernet Franc. The wine has complex floral and dark fruit aromas that keep bringing you back to the glass. The palate has black cherry and red currant notes, elegant texture, and a floral hint on the finish. The flavors are lasting, rich, and savory.
