2016 SLV BLOCK 1 Cabernet Sauvignon
ABOUT S.L.V.
S.L.V., also known as Stag’s Leap Vineyard, is the winery’s first vineyard. This vineyard achieved international fame after the 1973 vintage stunned the wine world when it bested some of France’s greatest wines in a 1976 blind tasting known as the “Judgment of Paris”. Today, this vineyard continues to produce wines with layers of complexity, spicy intensity and excellent structure.
VINEYARDS & WINEMAKING
The 2016 S.L.V. showcases the vineyard’s distinctive volcanic and alluvial soils, delivering concentrated dark fruit, elegant tannins, vibrant fruit notes, and complex aromatics. Featuring fruit from all vineyard blocks, including the historic 1972 Block 4, this wine reflects the unique character and heritage of S.L.V. Each lot was aged separately in small French oak barrels for 20 months, with careful barrel selection and blending by Winemaker Marcus Notaro to create a wine of depth, structure, and refined complexity, highlighted by notes of graphite, dark fruit, and cocoa.
